The Hansen REC mission is to support research and education activities for the sustainability and benefit of agriculture and natural resources in Ventura County.
With a commitment to fulfill this mission, HAREC provides two distinct funding opportunities:
HAREC Research-Facility Projects—land, labor, equipment and facilities available for state-of-the-art research.
To expand research capacity at the Hansen REC, the University encourages the submission of facility-use and funding proposals for long-term research projects on perennial crops important in Ventura County agriculture, e.g, avocado and citrus trees, dragon fruit, cane berries, etc. For additional information or if your have any questions or ideas that you would like to discuss, please contact the Interim Center Director, Jose De Soto.
Thelma Hansen Fund (THF) Research & Education Grant Program—supports projects that encompass research, education, and outreach activities.
All projects (research, education and outreach) need to focus on agricultural and natural resource issues and needs relevant to Ventura county.
Proposals are accepted year-round but evaluated at specific times of the year.
